My name is Wanda A. Simpkins.

Currently I am enrolled at Capella University in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.  I have worked hard to obtain academic excellence qualifying me as an agent for change.  I enjoy helping people and distributing services that will promote their best quality of life.

 

I am a Lead Care Coordinator with the Mental Health Association of Nassau County. As a Service Coordinator I have experience assessing client needs and providing services and support for mental health clients. I also work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and family resources. Additionally, I help facilitate screenings to support clients with mental health diagnosis to stabilize and support their quality of life.

I have lived in Nassau County for over sixty years.  My late father was the founder of the Progressive Holiness Church, which has continued to be a beacon of service in the Hempstead community for the past 60 years.  My journey has yet to end. I remain an enthusiast congregant encouraging the youth, empowering the sisterhood and music ministry.

All of these experiences, academic, professional, and personal have contributed to my counseling identity.  I will use the various elements of helping to help you reach your goals!
